Title: 2001 Toyota Celsior B-Euro Edition (Not B-ER) (VIP on a budget build = slow)
Post by: McRae555 on August 30, 2016, 08:00 PM
Thought I'd start a journal, so even I could keep an update on my car.

I was daily driving my 1993 Subaru Impreza LS (LHD) and wanted something newer.
So as a student with a abysmal budget, I took a look at importing a car. I gave Brian @B-Pro Auto JDM importer (http://toptierimports.com/index.php?action=profile;u=2714) a shout out, and with his help found this Celsior.
As being on a budget I avoided the "C" trim that had the air suspension, that was a pain to fix + $$$

The B-Euro edition has the ventilated leather as well as "Euro" tuned suspension + bigger brakes supposedly.

As the car was shipped, I picked up the car from the rail yard. Here are pics from that day

As you can see the lights were oxidized and there was tons of tape residue on my car.

Oh there also was no gas and a dead battery...

So after @WinnipegHID (http://toptierimports.com/index.php?action=profile;u=2586) got my DRL's installed, I got my car safetied.

Here it is now after Supercharged sunday and 3 packs of clay bar..

That is all.

Used a cheap turtle wax headlight restoration kit and then Tom at @HID gave it a nice polish.
So they look almost new now.

Darn that's a shame...

Don't even get me started on the u-pass, just more fee's from UMSU... You would think they would let parking pass owners to opt-out.

I'd have to take two bus'es which would result in a 75 min bus ride or stick to my 20 min car drive lol.

But I ended up selling it to a part-time student even though you're not supposed to...oops  8-)

So just a little update.

Got the interior clean and protected using aerospace 303.

Sadly this winter, I will be winter driving it due to budgeting and limited space.

I already have winters on the car.

So things planned are really good car mats (weathertech + husky liners does not make mats for this car!), rust check, and engine block heater installation.

Here's how it sits before winter

If that's a "c" grade, I've been looking past them for no reason.
Very clean!

Long time updateee checking in.

Winter driving this thing was a pain in the arse. Even with winters, it was horrible, so I'm pulling out the subaru for winter.
Peeling clear coat on front bumper from stone chips, little rust spots even after getting it rust checked and vigorous washing in winter.

A little salty that I'm seeing Celsiors in the same color combo as my car everywhere now, but it was expected. Maybe I had imported the first (ls430/ Celsior )? meh anyways.

Update

Picked up a rare set of wheels off a guy who wrote off his aristo.

yokohama connoisseur 51c

18x9 5x114.3

These were supposedly made for the celsior and I didn't even know it. Here's some cool links

These wheels are now discontinued and quite pricey, so it looks like I'll have to stick with 18's for now..
There was curb rash and it is not painted an original color.

On the car, needs more lowwwwww.

Interior is looking only cushier.

Next up is the new exhaust, muffler delete coming soon...
Followed by coils, then timing belt next year :zwirly:

My inspiration for this build.

Yuppers I'm going back to the original gunmetal chrome, so I can bling bling.

Any suggestions on where to get them coated or where to get the curb rash repaired?  :zlide:

Will do once I have moneysss.  The sound system in these are Mark Levinson and the subwoofer is blown...
Such a a pain just to swap out the sub, gotta remove the rear seats which takes about 45 mins.

Winnipeg wheel work maybe? Leland might be able to as well. If the rash isn't bad you could just sand it yourself

I don't trust my own work  <: and it's all around the rim on one wheel. So I'll give them a call.

Just curious if anyone else has used Mother's Carnuba wax? Cause I'm using it and its leaving gold specs all over my paint..
Didn't happen with Meguiar's Carnuba wax.

Gold specs, sounds like it's not being applied properly or removed properly. That's pretty easy to do with that stuff.

I've used both, and found that Mothers is more difficult to work with. It is a bitch to remove.

Meguiars wins for off-the-shelf detailing stuff IMO

Definitely noticed that, Meguiars it shall be.

UPDATE:

One of the reasons I love these cars is that its pretty simple to get them sounding decent.
So that's what I did, I chopped off the muffler and left the resonators + cat in place and welded in new tips.

Here's my video of my startup. ( I apologize for not filming in landscape  :unamused: )
