Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: Nismoline on March 19, 2012, 05:12 PM
hey all, i am looking for somewhere to get my 215/45/17 falkens mounted on my 9 inch wide panasports. Looking for somewhere with a good reputation that has mounted stretched tires before. Dont need someone screwing up my rims.
Thanks.

SpeedFactor now has a tire machine and mounting system. Check them out, otherwise Id say Kal-Tire on Kenaston. They mount Gonzos stuff.

Mine were only mildly stretched, but they didn't even bat an eye when I asked. They did a lot of Tesarski's wheels, I'm comfortable going to them with unique wheel and tire combos.

I just show up with my isht.

A guy named Kevin used to work there.. bald, goatee, loves coffee, knows a good set of wheels when he sees it. But he's gone now, and I dealt some other folks for the first time. They still took care of me for the same price though.

Hows pricing at those places? I used sturgeon on St. Mary's I believe it was. Took my tires in no questions asked. 215/45s on a 9.5J. 200 psi on the bead blaster. Mounting and balancing 2 tires came out to 50 bucks which is on the high side. But i was really fed up with hearing the "tire stretch lecture" from everywhere else i went so i didnt care. I think I'll try Ultimate as well this year since i'm looking for a stretch mount and balance soon.

$60 for me. Had to remove tires from stock rims and mount on new ones. Still an insane deal considering caltire qouted 130 for just mounting tires on the rims and balancing.

FYI: quicklane charges 60 bucks but will not mount low profile( said my 35 was too thin) or i imagine stretched tires as well.

What did you stretch? Because they did my 225's on 9.5 no sweat. And 215 on 8.5 which was easier. 40 bucks for all 4.

Do they do valve stems too? If so, I should go there and it should only cost me about 60 to do all 4 of my tires.

i stretched 215 on 9 inch rims. just tell them you want a cash deal and they will help you out. they were able to do my tires but they said if they couldnt that they would put them on and i would just have to go somewhere with a bead blaster to finish the job

Speed factor has That system with The weights inside the rim on the tire. Some kind of beads or something
Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: Nismoline on April 24, 2012, 10:07 PM
there are a set of weights on the inside on the rims by the face then a set on the inside by the back outer lip. they just stick on. ultimate said they are using the best ones with the strongest adhesive.

I need to have a set of tires put on some new wheels, as well as have my wheel's re-balanced. I noticed a shimmer on the steering wheel the other day when I went on the highway. I must have lost a weight.

It looks like Ultimate is the place to go?
Title: Where to get tires mounted

I took a wheel and tire there yesterday and they did it on the spot. Very impressed, I was prepared to leave it there.

New staff though, I only recognized Marla who appears to manage the place.

I hit up ultimate on Thursday, it was 80 bucks cash to mount all 4 of my tires...sounds like they've been having problems with bigger lipped rims. They did a flawless job on mine though!
Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: firelizard on May 12, 2012, 01:03 PM
80 bucks? Man... that sucks... still a decent price but now other places are pretty close.
Title: Where to get tires mounted

IMO that's not bad at all to properly mount and balance a set of low profile tires on expensive wheels.
Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: firelizard on May 12, 2012, 02:13 PM
It isn't, but considering it used to be $40.. we were getting spoiled.
Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: TonyPajamaz on May 12, 2012, 10:28 PM
Meh, I'm cool with 80, it is a butt load cheaper then anywhere else, and they also had to put my valve stems on. It only took a half hour too which is awesome, last summer at west end tire, it took over 6 hours for them to do my car...and I had to sit there and wait because the rims were on the car.

I just phoned Ultimate Wheel on Logan Ave. and the guy who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about when I asked them if they do road force wheel balancing.

Some of you guys are recommending Ultimate, but is that because of the cheap cash price?  I've read that road force balancing is far superior compared to static or dynamic balancing.  Can anybody confirm this?

If Ultimate doesnt do road force balancing, then I guess i'll have to goto Keystone Ford (Quick Lane) service to get it done.
Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: boostfreak on May 28, 2012, 03:05 PM
Ive never had a problem with "non road force" wheel balancing. Ever.

Ive also never noticed any sort of difference between the two.
Title: Where to get tires mounted
Post by: tempsho on May 28, 2012, 03:38 PM
Most shops do dynamic wheel balancing.  Very few do road force balancing.  From what I have read, the road force is a better way of getting a completely balanced wheel.

I as at ultimate today, it was 5 bucks a rim to take old tires off. and 20 bucks a rim to mount and balance. It will be $100 but they are pretty quick and they do good work, not open on weekends though.

if it's not stretching, we have a machine that does a profile size of up to '40'. unfortunately for us there are no different size guides with the machine [or some retard lost it before i started working there] so that's the lowest we can do. i've been trying to convince the shop to get an air canon for quite some time but.. they're cheap.

Their tech said he had issues mounting my tires (235/35 on a 19x8 and 275/30 on a 19x10.5) because he had to reverse mount them due to the lip. He got it done, but I did notice a scratch on the lip that I was sure wasn't there when I dropped them off. Didn't see it until I got home. I don't know if the reverse mounting caused it, but yeah. Otherwise it was good.
