Check the drain plug at the bottom of your door, mine gets plugged up so often. Sometimes I can hear water sloshing around inside my doors lol. That's why it's rusting.

From what I've read online they say it acts very well. Like a normal open diff then when you step on it then it locks. They advise against putting a locker in, and I can see that. Like you stated.
I thought it would be a cool project to get a 8.8 Torsten LSD and put it in if it wouldn't be much of a pain.

No no it's a totally different unit for the front, different size. Same company is all.

Honestly don't think it's worth it, I've never been in a situation where I wish I had one. And I'd rather a selectable locker anyways.

Edit; apparently the guys that do it buy a t-2 new and put it in. But that looks to be the same one we have in our rear end. So I could technically get one out of a truck in the scrap yard and put it in my front end?

Yeah people do it. Its not the same size as the rear. But it's the same design. I'm not a huge fan of it, because our front ends are live so it's going to be trying to engage all the time. And will make turning a pain, especially in winter. Selectable is the way to go imo.

The rear is an 8.8" diff and the front is a Dana 35

Nah. Aside from rain it's supposed to be 16-20 ish degrees. And I guess I'm technically "yurting" lol.

One good thing about all the rain is hopefully the trail I'm planning on hiking actually has water flowing. Its dry half the time because of lack of water.

Fair enough haha.

That's another reason I love the small trucks, single lane roads you can still fishtail the whole way down em and have a blast

My Land Cruiser has the front and rear lockers which were an option (~7% of 80 Series came equipped), 3" lift, and 33" Duratracs, it does pretty good in the snow.
I'm interested to see how much better the 35's are in the snow vs my 33's. I might not even swap to my duratracs since I'm not commuting anymore.

They work:
I was impressed with how much bite they had even with a decent amount of sticky clay/mud on them.
But it's not even muddy

Depends on type of snow. If snow is packed hard enough for the lighter ranger to not fall all the way through, it will be better.

If it's not, the heavier more powerful ram will be better.

The issue with the ranger is the front end likes to get hung up, the skid plate will float the front end up, and then front tires have no traction at all.

Unless it's super fluffy snow, then it really doesn't matter, both will go through a **** ton.

I've gone through fluffy snow that was as high as my hood, and I've been stopped by snow that barely reached the bottom of the bumper.

Just gotta read the scenario, and don't get too ambitious if your on your own without someone to pull you out lol.

Im used to shooting at about 5-7 FPS, I would average around 1100-2500 Shots per charge and it would last a long time. Now with the New D500, its at 10 FPS, and it uses a faster SD/XQD card system, a higher voltage processor and more advanced AF systems. Im only getting around 900-1200 shots... but it only lasts half the time because its double the frame rate.

How many batteries did you get?

I ordered 2 with an external charger. gives me 3 total.

I have yet to run out during a day, but ive come close some days when I was camping. most shots I took when camping was 500 in a day, and I ended with about 20% battery left. thats a lot of the screen being on too though, and the EVF surprisingly uses more battery than the big lcd screen on the back, apparently. and I almost solely use the EVF

my camera can do 11 fps, but I dont really do those kinds of shots. I just take lots of photos with the hopes of having 10% turn out okay, and 5% turn out great lol. still learning this camera and the lenses I have for it.
