Bump, need quite a few more cars for outdoors. We have an allowance of 4 cars indoors, and a good spot up front outdoors from what I'm told.

Learned something neat today at work.

When the converter station is finished they're going to build a Faraday cage that connects the two man-doors in each of the 4 valve halls so that you can actually walk into the room to make sure it's not on fire. If you were to walk outside of it you would essentially be struck by lightning and die since it's 500kV and around 2000 amps.

Not too sure if that's due to carona discharge, or being a less resistant path to ground.

The humidity in the room also has to be kept around 15% max IIRC, if it gets any higher the water in the air could conduct electricity and cause a short, which would blow **** up.

Also, apparently if **** goes really south the limit of approach to the thyristors is around 4m (inside that = death), so you'd pretty much have to belly crawl out.

Had to double check with the foreman who told me this because I thought he was ****ing with me.
vince after foreman explains to him for a second time: "thought so"

yeah, see thats how I like driving. fast. Sure, I could slow down with FWD and slide it with throttle and steering, but there's no way you are throwing a FWD car into a corner at 100+ and making it around without a handful of e-brake to swing the back end around.

Slow isnt fun for me. hammer down.
Lmao what?

Personally. I also think there is a certain point FWD doesn't make sense anymore. There is a reason almost all high HP performance cars are AWD or RWD. It handles and performs in a superior fashion.

Hell, around the same price as the GLA 45 AMG and S3, which I'd much rather buy.
Absolutely, since we are talking about the new CTR, I'm sure at driving speeds it's fantastic and can put the power down no problem with no traction issues. Once you start roasting your tires in 3rd gear is when you cross that line, lol

RWD is best wheel drive.

Agreed. My personal preference is RWD > FWD > AWD for fun driving. AWD is great for traction and putting down power, but takes away all the dynamic driver input that makes driving (fast) fun, imo.

Yeah but I can't justify that when I can get a new one with dealer discounts for $55-60. Brand new. Not abused. All the options I want.
That's like my ex , she bought a Ford New for $55. The retail was 70. Drove the **** out of it for a couple years, sold it for 53 I think, because the retail was 70. But she didn't pay that.

Not to sound like a fanboy, but it's not just for a "civic".. it's for a Type-R, and, it's the first one to be sold in North America.

But yea.. the markup is retarded. Someone my dad knows bought one :(
Yeah it is just a civic

Wheels & Tires / Legit vs Knockoff
« on: June 17, 2017, 09:56 AM »
You'll find a cheaper set of used wheels locally, save the shipping cost, not great exchange rate, and time too. There's plenty of both replicas and higher brand name sets popping up for sale, just watch all the marketplaces on Facebook, the forum, and kijiji.
