Fantastic news!  Now make with the pics!  Here's one of the wife's old '05 2.5i Ltd. wagon with Blitzen wheels to get the ball rolling.

That's a neat car, post some more pics!  Hopefully you don't have to swap those rear lights, that would suck.  I take my JDM's to Can Tire Unicity, they don't seem to get too concerned about stuff like some other places, maybe other CT's are the same.

BC vs. MB safety standards may be different, MB is pretty tough on stuff like this.  Why would any 3rd gen USDM Legacy headlights not fit?  Never mind a sister car, they sold that model here, I'm not seeing the problem.

I assume you've checked the trans fluid level back when you first started having issues?

If it's "stored" for winter, put it on jackstands and take the wheels off.  And sprinkle your property with "smile, you're on camera" signs.  Sucks when you can't feel safe on your own property.

That's rough!  My buddy's 4.0L 4x4 Ranger gets about the same.

The wife's GX470 pulled down a solid mid 12mpg the last 2 tanks, all highway travelling for the holidays, which is awful as well but at least it's got full time AWD and a V8 to justify the ****ty returns.

Land Cruiser is still getting 15mpg on daily driver duty in this cold, webasto pre-heater helps out bigtime!

Anyone familiar with kumho?

I was looking at their tires before for my car and on paper they seem like solid tires.

This tire in particular Iím now looking at for my truck, the kumho KL71s. Theyíre only $900 for 4 and some reviews say that theyíre an underrated tire and can preform just as good as the top dogs, but other reviews say they suck, or they wear immensely. So what I figured is these tires SEEM to be more popular with the EURO crowd cause their patrols are light, and here in NA the rigs these guys run , land cruisers , pickups etc and very very heavy hence why itís beating these tires up fast.

So with a 4000lbs ranger they should be decent I think?

Iíd like to hear any of your guys experiences with KUMHO or and friends of yours experiences.

What Patrol are you talking about that's light?  All the ones I've seen are very comparable to a Land Cruiser in size and weight.  And either of those compared to a 3/4 or 1 ton truck could be considered light, lol.

Kumho's are pretty good tires, I've had a few sets on cars in the past.  No road hazard warranty at all though, hence the cheaper price.

Swing it by a boat shop and have them heat shrink wrap it like they would a boat going into winter storage.

Light Vehicle though lol.  This truck I have right now has Duratracs on it. And I can tell you it if it wasnt for the TC and Stabilitrac they would not grip or last with this motor thats for sure lol But very few would.

I bet it weighs about 5000lbs (I guess that's still light?), but it is pretty unreal.  Rotate often, what can I say?  It's coming up on 4 years since I bought those tires.  Full time AWD means it never has a hard time accelerating, and the tires always provided confident braking in the winter.

Hey @benz88, I sold the Duratracs off the wife's GX470 today, 90K kms on them, still had 11 and 12/32 tread remaining (about 2/3), got $500 for them.  Best all year light truck and SUV tires for Manitoba EVER.

So you're getting a replacemetn painted, AND ordering a new set of 4 that you'll have painted?  Are the new ones tougher or something?

My buddy has an '01 Ranger w/ 4.0L, it gets about 13mpg summer, and single digit in the winter.  It's the only thing I've seen that's worse than my wife's GX470, lol.

So I finally got around to cancelling the insurance on the car and I thought MPI would back date it to the Bill of Sale date, or the shipping date. However since there is no proof that the new owner didn't register the car yet then it's up to the seller to cancel the insurance on their car. Just FYI.

I've ran into this before, but a good reminder all the same.

Excellent news!  Too bad it's not staying local, tough when it's winter conditions half the year.

Sweeeet.  I didnít know if I went overboard. I just put the stones all the way front to back so it evenly weighs the whole back end down and then it landed up being that heavy.
Iím stoked for the snow though. I canít wait. Like the first time I took the truck off road , I was so happy.

I think it's a bit heavy for a 1/4 ton truck, if the rear suspension doesn't squat I'd run it and see how it does, you can always remove some down the road.

I donít know how much these weigh Iím sure someone on here would know but Iím assuming between 20-40 lbs.
I had a friend tell me theyíre aprox 15-20 KG

20lbs x 17 = 340lbs total
30lbs x 17 = 510lbs total
40lbs x 17 = 680lbs total

How much did that make the ass end squat?  Probably overkill by a factor of 2, but more is better than less for winter grip.

Paging Luke to defend "phantom trailer" squat, lol.

My friend with a Ranger made a 2x4 wood frame for the box that accepts 2 large patio blocks, and makes it so they don't slide around at all in the box, and the floor is still flat so you can use it.  Worked really well.  I think those patio blocks are about 100lbs each.
