Myself, @Igor@Nirusan and @alexatwork21 went to Brainerd, MN to hit up Proving Grounds this past weekend. We all got media passes which let us go pretty much anywhere we wanted without anyone questioning us (u ever walk across a live race track before??). All in all, it was an unreal weekend and we are all planning on heading back in September. If you've ever thought about going, come, you won't regret it.

Here's some of our coverage from Day 1 up on the blog: http://toptierimports.com/wp/map-proving-grounds-day-1/

Thanks @Dolan. This was my first time taking photography "seriously" and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately some photos didn't turn out like I had hoped, but it was a great learning experience overall.

As for the event, I will definitely be looking to return in September. The cars you see, people you meet, and the overall atmosphere of the track are to die for. I highly recommend that people check this event out!

That's to be expected with photos haha.

I've been to powercruise the last 3 years which is at BIR. And it really is a shame that we can't have something like that closer to home.  Gimli tries, but fails horribly.

i think a lot of the failure would come from lack of facilities. The lack of facilities can be expected from lack of enthusiasm and poor attendance at all events.

If Gimli race weekends were packed beyond capacity, then someone might take notice and start investing some money into new facilities.

After all these years It's a miracle we still have any venue available. If you're not satisfied I strongly suggest volunteering or better yet, forking out some cash. These things don't run themselves.

While I agree, to an extent. You need to spend money to make money. If they were to put some cash into that track, like BIR, I believe people will actually want to use the facility. Until then, not so much.

BIR is a purpose built track, not some old air craft runway grade cement which eats up tires in 2 laps. Or a old runway that is falling apart.
