So, in a situation like this where the vehicle is already a production vehicle readily available in North America, do you still have to wait the 15 year to import or can you import one at any time?

If it's a North American market BRZ, it can be re-imported to Canada after having been exported to Japan. A Toyota FT-86 is inadmissible until 15 years post-production.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a 350Z, probably would have to wait the 15 years.

You would. RIV-approved cars have a sticker in the door jamb along with other vehicle information that confirms it was built to North American spec (in addition to either being on the list or not) so even a Fairlady badged as a Z wouldn't pass muster. On the bright side, only 11 months to go until the Fairlady Z coupes start to become eligible.

@Colby you think those BBS are expensive, check these out. For good reason, these have been on here for months.

Damn, that's steep. Then again, 17x10 in chrome would have been Y79,000 a piece, new. And dope sizes for VS-KFs are still really expensive second-hand. And the 17x12 isn't in the catalogue. So those wheels are an off the menu special. There are probably very few of those in the world.

                RIP VS-KF, can't believe it's already been 5 years.

Streeter's new invoicing system is pretty slick. I highly recommend going through him when you find something in Japan.
