I think you can request it be scheduled just about anywhere in MB. I've heard of people scheduling the court location way out of town and the officer not showing up and them getting out of the ticket.

Not sure if truth, but I've heard is a couple times.

This is true but a cop saying that you did it will be considered proof. You have to keep in mind that the system is built to accept the cops testimony as proof.  Otherwise If a dunk throws a punch at a cop in a dark alley and there are no witnesses the cops word would not be enough.  Sadly this belief in the police officers word leads to abuse and laziness within the system as a whole.

If that's the case, this would be an excellent strategy for fighting the ticket.  It's also the exact reason I expected they wouldn't allow it.

I would presume that if you had a good reason to move it they would. Like if you got a ticket while in Winnipeg but you are normally in Thompson...

On topic, if you get a photo radar ticket then go to court and lose do you get demerits? Or is it still no demerits and just the ticket needs to be paid?

But arent you technically admitting to being the driver when you appear in court? I was under the impression that the reason you didnt get demerits was because they cant prove who was driving.

You could say "yeah i got this ticket, wasn't be driving the car but i'm fighting it". Regardless you won't be getting demerits.

How would you fight a radar ticket?

No clue, was just curious and never knew the answer. I guess you could fight if the radar was parked illegally, or some crap - im not very knowledgeable on fighting tickets

I don't know how this related to the new equipment that they have, but back in the day you used to be able to fight a photo radar ticket based on when it was previously calibrated.   If it wasn't calibrated properly then the ticket was automatically thrown out.   this was about 5-6 years ago...    If it legit wasn't you driving, you have to have proof of who was driving the car, how long they had the car, and where they were going.   Again, i dont know if that still applies.

You can't fight a photo radar ticket, as per the guys at POINTZZZZ. They won't even take your case if it's photo radar.

You can get the ticket reduced if you go down there, but they will not throw it out.

A couple weeks back someone on the Wise up Winnipeg page fought a radar ticket and won.
They somehow calculated the fact that they didn't have enough time to stop at the speed they were going (red light ticket) or something like that, and they actually won.
