Not an update as of yet, i am still looking for wheels, i think i may have found a couple sets but my budget is pretty low and nice wheels cost a good chunk of change!

Anyway i washed the car last night and decided i would try my hand at taking some photos. Not the greatest but i think I'm getting the hang of it

New parts have been added to the car!

Since I lowered the car I've had this clunking from the front passenger side. I read on the forester forum that it could be the endlinks so thanks to Dean (not sure who he is on here, but he's a pretty awesome guy!) i bought a front and rear set of kartboys.

Saturday i chucked the fronts on while i was changing the oil and they look sweet! But they didn't solve my problem completely, they did however make it quieter and happen less, so it must be a bushing or maybe a wheel bearing???

Even though they didn't solve my problem, I'm going to keep them installed because the old ones are going to fail eventually. The rears however i haven't put on yet because i figured i would put them on once i get a rear sway bar.

It could also be your shock's bump stops.

You mean like the shock is bottoming out and hitting the bumb stop? ... Never thought about that, i got told when i bought them that they had only 8000kms on them.

One guy at school suggested it might be an axle, and i do recall the right side (problem side) did have a little bit of play to it.

The struts these days make use of the bump stop more than you know.

Okay, i guess that would make sense, because it happens on slow large rolling type holes or bumps. But its still only from the right side. Why wouldn't it be from both?

Double check all wear items for your clunking sound: sway bar bushings, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, strut mounts, struts. All of these could cause clunking sounds when they are worn out.

The clunking could also be a loose caliper. Grab it and move it around to see if there's any give.

So i dont think it would be the caliper but i checked it anyway and its tight, at the moment i think i got, i dont want to say scammed cuz it was a good deal, but i think the strut insert might be pooched...

I checked the koni website and it looks like ill have to buy a front set for 500$... Or live with the clunking or maybe even upgrade. I guess time will tell.

I also got a package in the mail! Nothing huge, in fact its probably the most miniscule thing you could do to a car... But i think it looks cool and well it's cheap!

So i have gotten a few more thing out of the way this past few weeks. The first thing i got out of the way was the ever necessary yellow fog light tint. It was probably  the easiest "mod?" i have ever done, took me 20 minutes ams looks pretty good.

Next thing on the list was chasing the misfire engine codes. I've decided to start cheap and slowly get more expensive. The cheapest thing i could think of is spark plugs and while not being all that cheap compared to other spark plugs i decided to go with OEM Subaru plugs.

I knew changing plugs wasn't going to be a walk in the park when i started but i think it went well.

I started with the drivers side seeing that it looked like the harder side. Took out the battery and window washer fluid to have more room which helped, but the mess of wire and hoses in that area proved to be a nuisance. The passenger side however was quite simple, there's, for some reason, wayyy more room on that side.

                        Drivers side;

                        Passenger side;

And here are the plugs, they look a little carboned up but not too bad. I guess i will have to do some driving around to see if the light comes back.

Finally a cool and much needed update!! I know what you guys are thinking, what can it be now, another lame ass sparkplug change? But this is were it gets good! I finally got a new set of rims!! On Monday i purchased a set of Drag DR31's in bronze. They are a 17x8 with a +48 offset. I got a set of 5, one is pretty damaged but im going to try and buff some of the damage out, on the other hand the 5th one is brand spanking new!

Next on the to be purchased list is 10mm spacers for all 4 corners, extended studs for all 4 corners as well and a set of tires. Plus maybe a fender roll.

Not really, i think I'm going to try and get this whole wheel/tire set up done and purchase everything I'm going to need to install it for under 1500$... Seems reasonable to me, but then again I'm not too sure if that's a high budget or a low one.

That's a good question, i don't see why not, it is based off the impreza chassis. What would be something that could prevent me from using it?

Check the rules. There are two main considerations : if it explicitly states your vehicle is allowed ( and I think fxts are if I recall correctly ), or a calculation based on if it is wider than it is tall.

Okay thanks, ill check the rules, i knew the track width vs height could have been an issue but it does look like it is wider than it is tall (hopefully) . And with this new wheel and tire set up, it should help with increasing track width.

It started off not too bad of a day. My wheel parts came in, picked them up and couldn't wait to test fit the rims!! I got home and cleaned all the brake dust off of the rims and for being 3 years old, they can shine!! But that's where the shining glory ends. I'm looking at the rims, ones a different colour. I knew it was new but i didn't notice that it was a different colour.

The new one is on the right.

Then looking at it later even the barrels are different... Oh well, its not that off and i bet it'll be hard to notice it once they are on the car.

Next is the muteki lugs. They look awesome but apparently they are too big. I didn't even know that the conical  ends came in different diameters, i knew that there were different ends (ie: flat, deep cone, shallow cone, etc...). I do however have an extra set of lugs from my last car, not as nice, but they fit so they will have to do.

I guess i now have a set of unused muteki sr48's for sale...

Finally got some tires!!!!! Nothing fancy just some off brand tires they are 245/45's so a little smaller than stock but not too bad.

And well i couldn't wait to get them on, however they could not stay on...

I have now noticed that 10mm spacers may have been a little large for what i want. And the extra set of lug nuts that i thought i had, sadly aren't a complete set. To top it off i am going to have to raise the rear. There isn't a lot of clearance back there with the wider tires. Not too big of a deal but now i wont be getting the benefits of haveing "sport" springs and i will have to settle with wrx wagon springs.

This is before the rear spring swap and with 3mm wheel spacers:

In this before picture of the rear you cant see any tire sticking out of the bumper

With the new rims and tire set up, you definitely can

Same thing with the front; before

                                                  After

I just cant wait until i can get them on for good!
