Really cool idea, my vote is either Red Mahogany or Jacobean.

I like the red or english chestnut, but the ebony probably matches your car best.

Small bumpdate. I have slotted out a lid and now have a usable tray setup. Eric came over and helped with sound deadening. He ended up having more than he needed so I get to buy all his stock that I need off of him. Woohoo!

Umm, I got a sheet of 3/4" MDF at home and a subwoofer on order.

Colin slung some hookups and also got me some carpet. That has been mediocrely laid down in the hatch area

And I have started staining wood pieces as I go. I ended up with Red Mahogany. It's exactly what I was hoping for. A nice subtle red with rich grain.

The sub I ordered is the Focal E30KX (12")... I was originally planning on an 8". How I got up to 12... I have no idea. This next project is magicianing a box into the spare tire area to maximize cargo area. Carpeting it. Followed up with staining the wood tray. Slowly but surely it'll get finished

As mentioned earlier/elsewhere on the forum I've been having issues with Phantom Knock/Knock/Pre-Ignition. I havent a clue how to combat it so I have started with the basic maintenance to see what it may be.

First was fuel, I ran a can of seafoam in it to help clean the injectors and fight any inconsistancies in the tank. Next were plugs, They werent bad for the electrodes and straps, but they did appear to be running fairly hot and the resistor may have started to go on them. Replaced with OEM drop ins, gapped to spec from NGK.

I also ran a can of seafoam through the vacuum line since the engine is DI and the valves never get washed.

These things didnt help. I cant make it a day without dropping to .188 on the DAM and anytime I'm under 35% throttle It is trying to pull timing. FKL and Feedback are almost always anywhere from -7 to -2. I am getting pretty frustrated since its been getting worse and worse and I cant figure out why. Eric at Torqued has recommended a few things to try as I go. The forester is eligible for the WQW-58 recall for Pre-Ignition. Subaru flashes the ECU to change the timing and such.

I dont know if a Map change effects the entire ECU or a part of it. All I can hope for is it's a bunch of false readings and the OEM tune is just sensitive.

Anywho, I drove out to Lake of the Woods and enjoyed a few hours out there with a buddy. We stayed at his cabin and went off-road to explore some trails.

                Water, sand, and mud ensued.

Luckily through-out our stupidity, there was minor casualties. I have some small scrapes on my exhaust, and front lip.

Matts foz however had a bit of an issue. The ransmission has a Winter/Snowflake HOLD mode. It is flashing continuously and will not shift out of 2nd gear.

Between the two of us, we have 1 perfectly working Forester :P

We are thinking it may be a solenoid that went bad??? No clue at this point. Everything is connected and looking well... apart from a few battle scars on the oil pan

                            It sure is. It's a C/20 trim

Unfortunately I can't be down the vehicle as it's all I have. I don't think the injector flow would be my issue, the spray pattern and timing are apparently really important. In addition I've ran a bunch of cleaner through. I also think I'd be throwing misfire codes.

I chatted with one of the guys at subaru and he says that the FA20DIT will almost always have some pre-ignition. It's just that when it turns into knock is the issue. Unless I throw a knock code, they won't even bother looking at the car

                              UpDooT:

Booked a CVT fluid change at the dealer. Subaru is the only ones that make a compatible fluid and its utilizes an electronic level sensor that needs a proprietary scan tool aka I cant do it.

Will be picking up my own Diff fluids and changing them myself. Its about $350 for the CVT fluid change and another $300 for the Front and Rear Diffs.

Apart from slowly working away at the "D Service - 100,000km's", I have been in talks with Eric @ Torqued Performance.

This finally led me to be able to install the Grimmspeed 3 Port EBCS. WooHoo! I have never had to work with a forced induction system so it seemed a bit daunting. Luckily the Grimmspeed installation instructions are nice and simple. It was actually for the 2015 WRX, but Grimmspeed made sure it works with the FXT too. It bolted up nice and easily, and I flashed on Eric first revision of the tune. I noticed that the PCV sure has dumped in atomized oil over the last 94,000 km's. The Cold Side inlet had a nice coating on the inside of it. The turbo was a nice Golden brown from all the oil too. I must say, the sound of the wastegate being actuated from the EBCS is earporn. The OEM controller never made the wastgate chug like the grimmspeed does.

Right off the hop, It responded similarily to COBB's OTS Stage 1. Much happier ECU, quicker to bounce the DAM back up, and less knock readings. I cant wait for a few more revisions to see how it goes. Eric has been quick to respond to most emails and has just gotten back to me with a new map after his stated business hours. Will keep updating as it goes. Cheers all!

have you had any problems with the CVT so far on this one?

It should have been manufactured with a manual.

That's more of a personal issue, haha.

But no, the transmission is solid. I actually don't mind it. It's decently fun with paddles and manual modes. Fast to shift and efficient.

It can't hold a ton of power though. 300 at the wheels is like the limit of these things. $8,000 to replace :(

You have no idea. That and a turbo upgrade would be hand in hand

If I recall, the USDM never had a side marker slot. Just food for thought

I doesn't it just has an extra part of the black trim on the side but it's the same shape as the light so I think I can just pop it off and replace it with the light
