Well, Cody needed a winter car. There's a whole pile of Miatas around He so he figured it would be easy to slap one together quickly. Well that's quickly turned into a "build a brand new car" build. Everything is getting stripped and refinished.
The plans for this are not just another cool Miata. No no. This will be another Eppic Miata. We say top secret but really, we get too excited and just want to share our creativity with people. Hopefully another week or so of hard work and this new project will be rolling.
Onto the pictures:

Sorting out what parts to use.

Rebuilt steering rack

Subframes out and getting ready for prep

Stripping things right down to the are bones

Had to move the shell out to sand blast the engine bay. Fastest way to get work done is just do it yourself.

Parts go in the oven to be baked and gassed out before sandblasting and then powdered.

Subframe all cleaned up and ready for coating

Interior is fully stripped.

And the list continually grows larger and larger.

That's all for now.

Very nice powder coating! I have some brand new raw aluminum M3 components I want coated but the bushings are already pressed in. Can they still be powder coated without taking them out? Also looking to do my rear sub frame and arms in the future.

                  Rust free Miatas ftw.

I have V8 Roadsters FUCA ball joints to sell if you're interested, as well as Prothane FLCA bushings (I already used the FUCA bushings on my old car)

@magner knows what's up. My dreams differ quiet a bit from that Miata but.... he's on the right track.

It is great rust protection but it's only great for that if you sandblast everything down, get rid of all the rust, weld in new metal and rust paint everything first and THEN spray bed liner. If you were to just cover rust with this stuff you would just be containing the rust and letting it eat itself away faster cause you're then containing it.

slowly figuring things out and getting things in order.  Biggest problem now is that I can't decided what I want to dip and what I want to powder coat.

Seems like it'd be easier to install the struts and upper control arms after you've pressed in the balljoints instead of doing it twice, even though I understand the fun of mocking things up.

Are you keeping the 1.6 or installing a 1.8?

Needed to check clearances for suspensions mods.

Looks like the 1.6 is going in. Josiah has a turbo kit illmprobably throw on there too so it's not so boring...

parts came in.  Got them front wheels on loosely so I could roll her out of the shop.  Have to work on some customers vehicles every now and again
