*I just wanna start of by saying this is gonna be a big learning experience for me. I'm finally gonna step away from behind the lens and learn me some stuff about cars so bear with me on this*

So i finally ditched my pos sunfire and picked up a 99 sir.

0011 by John Ahi, on Flickr

- Its a b16 head/b20 block swap (frankenstein swap?)
- Lowered on eibach springs but it rubs like crazy at the front so i have a set of tein coils to put in to raise it up a bit.
- Aem intake and fuel rail
- Full Megan catback exhaust with 4-1 headers
- Basette steelies

Has some minor rust on the rear quarters and passenger door, and burns a bit of oil.

I really have no idea what i want to do with this car right now but im sure it'll change and i'll be sure to keep this updated!

so far on my todo list is:
- put coils in and raise the car a bit (put the fronts in and raised it)
- get it saftied

            Little update:

-Fixed my window so now it's all the way up, but i think the motors are dicked so im just not gonna touch my windows all winter (rip drive thus)

-Changed the wheel setup a bit also. took the basette steelies off and put the wheel i had on the rear at the front and put my winters on my rear so i don't need to worry about the coilovers now. (will put winters on the front soon)

-Found out i need a new alternator belt, driver side lower ball join and a battery tie down so gonna go pick those up tomorrow.

              - Changed the alternator belt
              - realized that the ball joint was just loose so put it back into place and added the pin so it should be good now  (this also lifted the front end so now the car sits more even)
              - cleaned up the corrosion on the battery and added the tie down
              - also had a burnt out tail light so changed the bulb

on my way home tonight tho i took another look at my balljoint and it looked a little dicked
This is before i fixed it

and this was when i just checked it out. Can anyone help me out if it should be replaced or if it's all good. Idk if the metal above it should be there.

It's good preventative maintenance to change your ball joints anyways cause you definitely don't want those going on you.

That looks to me like whoever last did the balljoint never tightened it correctly. Hopefully it hasn't damaged/enlarged the hole in the control arm from the extra movement. I'd try tightening it first :)

yea it was really loose and there was no cotter pin, so ended up tightening it and then added a pin.

Is the last pic after you tightened it?  If so it's not tight enough. That shiny part of the metal showing above the arm shouldn't be.

Been a not so fun start to the year. The civ decided to get a nice lil rod knock so gonna end up swapping my whole engine out. Luckily i found a nice B16/B20 again for a decent price thats pretty mint and will be a nice upgrade

16326309_1385617544821834_1819906505_o by John Ahi, on Flickr

Has arp headstuds and is generally really clean.
Been told it dyno'd at 187whp but can't always take a word so gonna maybe do one myself and see what im working with.

Future plans may be to turbo it but main priority is to get my car back running so i can have my bbg back

oh yea i also added some yonaka recaro rep seats because why not

Over the weekend me and a few friends manage to drop the engine and completely cleaned my bay and transmission that was just caked with oil. hopefully by next week i'll have the new engine in and the car running, have a few minor parts to pick up, main thing is i need a new fuel regulator for my fuel rail. i'll post more pics later. My old head is still mint, and the block is actually really clean so i'm just thinking my old setup will just need new rods and stuff.

alright im pretty lazy when it comes to adding photos but after getting the motor in and then trouble shooting for a week on and off trying to get the car to start and buying new spark plugs and ignition wires, we replaced my dizzy with my backup dizzy i had and she runs mint. turns out the tooth on my other dizzy just broke off. so now i have a running car again :)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Here's how the bay looks now

Trying to iron out some problems that happened with the swap, my car does not like to start in the cold, cranks alot and will idle at 500 then die, does that about 5 times  then it will hold a low idle until it warms up. and then another problem i ran into is sometimes when i press the gas it bogs out, sputters and backfires. i replaced my tps, map and iac valve, i think i narrowed it down to a bad 02 sensor or i might need a re tune. for the starting up in cold idk if i'll need to deal with it or maybe buy a new distributor (spark plugs and ignition wires are brand new). also put new coils in my rear so the car sits on tein coils all around, i put my white trunk back on and bought some 15x8 volk ce 28 reps.

                                          (sometime mid april)
Fixed my running lean issue by changing my ignition wires because my cylinder 1 wire was broken.
I thought it was my distributor so i bought one off of ebay and installed it, then a day later broke down while on bishop so that was fun.

Got a ticket for my car being too low so gonna be in the process of raising that.

But some more issues with the car.
Turns out when doing my rear coils the head of one of my bolts for the LCA broke and well long story short while driving on the perimeter my lca decided to fall off. No damage to the car, just a stressful afternoon, and the other day my short shifter broke. I guess my car had a cheap ebay one in it. so gonna fix those 2 things then the civic will be for sale

I have my eyes on a 99 legacy wagon or a 99 4runner. Want something reliable to roadtrip and camp in.
