So a few months ago I picked up a 2001 Subaru Forester STI, bought it from a friend who imported it at the beginning of summer. Luckily for me, he had taken care of all the annoying stuff for me including DOT headlights, safety inspection, paint protection and a detail to get rid of all the JDM grunge, and some other stuff.

Car was an Auction grade 4 with a B interior, pretty solid and when I saw this thing it was even more clean than I expected.

With slightly over 81000kms, and basically every feature you could want, it was perfect.

Beautiful stock BBS 17's that are apparently pretty rare, but I decided I was going to replace them anyway so I let the previous owner keep them in exchange for a discount.

So I don't exactly have a plan for what I'll be doing with the car, just lots of ideas, some I've already done, some that are still being figured out (specifically fitment).

Since I technically didn't buy the car with wheels, I quickly had to find some winter wheels and tires. Just in time for the snow to hit I found an old beat up set of Enkei CDR9 17's with shot rubber. So I got them for 250, cleaned them up with a wire brush and some sand paper, then I covered the ugly fake bolt holes and dipped them in a turquoise color. I think they turned out pretty good.

after a few more coats, also sanded the corrosion off the old center caps and did them black.

Finished result of the wheels and the new tires
Originals were 225/45/17, decided to go a it bigger with 225/55/17, to fill the fender a bit better and give me more ground clearance. Overall tire height is different by 1.7 inches.

      And here they are mounted.

Got them all finished and mounted just before snow hit, returned the old tires and was very happy so far. Got some Gorilla mudflaps next, because who doesn't love rubber flaps on their Subaru? They fit almost perfectly, the rears had to be zip tied on the inside bolt hole but you cant see it so its okay.

When I first picked it up, the clock in the upper console was intermittently turning off and then would randomly come back on with a new time. After some quick research I found a its a common failure on the circuit board. So I took out the clock and resoldered a resistor and its been working perfect ever since.

Did my first oil change on this car not long after, also gave the engine a full detail, but pics are MIA, It's incredible how clean everything was under the motor, rust free, corrosion free, even the exhaust shields and valve covers are spotless!

Put some gauges in I had laying around, unfortunately more parts are required to actually hookup the Oil Pressure, and A/FR. But they light up and look cool  :hurr:

Had a bit of a misfire issue during idle and what i thought was a boost leak, so I tried to do a leak test and checked all the connections on the intercooler with no luck, turns out it was my spark plugs, swapped them out, and after many curse words and some blood on my knuckles i was boosting happily and had no misfires, but idle was not perfectly smooth still, and still isn't, in fact it was smoother with the old plugs but boost is good so its okay.

Had some fun in the snow on boxing day, I must say I am very impressed with the Subaru AWD system, obviously, as well as these WS80 Winter tires, they're the best winter tires I've ever used.

Over the last few weeks my car was at the Nemesis Performance shop while Justin fabbed up my new full turboback exhaust.

I used pucks (3"  Diameter) to gauge sizing and determined that dual 3.5" would be ideal only minor cutting was required but I was fairly happy with the result. Not completely though and I will have to do some body work because I don't like the angle my super rare one piece JDM bumper was cut at... also the exhaust ended up with saggy tips so I ordered some kart boy exhaust bushings to lift it up!

I find the best gifts are when people buy you stuff you kinda want, but think to yourself, that is way too much $$ for that! And they someone else buys it for you and you're sooo happy inside.

Girlfriend got me a "710" cap for Christmas, and I love it.

As many of you know, I have a thing for suede, so I wrapped my A pillars in black, I think it looks much more classy than the grey, and feels a lot more sexy.

So once the holidays ended and I was finished my exams, time came for what is my favorite part of every car I do, the Audio System.

I know I'm going to have this car for quite some time so I splurged a little on the equipment, its still not top of the line by any means, but its about as good as you can get before spending absurd amounts of $$$'s.

Firstly I had to gut the car, out with the old, in with the new.

Took out a super cool, but Japanese Kenwood Headunit and replaced it with a Pioneer AVH-X4800BS, a nice upgrade, with bluetooth, sirius capability, iphone and android connection, and a nice 7" display for long road trips ;)

I know you're all jealous of my sandal game, but with practice I'm sure you'll get to my level

The previous install was bit of a mess, but it all came out and I put my nice tidy new wiring in.

and some very strategic mic placement, very hidden and works great!

So here is the fun part, the subwoofer, amps and speakers!

So far I've only installed the rear speakers, and the subwoofer enclosure is in progress along with the amp rack. I want to finish the amp rack and wire it before installing the front speakers.. I kinda have to actually.

                              Front speakers are Focal PS 165FX flax 6.5" components, Bi-Amped with a Focal FPX-4.800, providing 120w RMS x 4 @ 4 ohm.

Rear speakers are Focal PS130 polyglass 5.25" coaxials, just running off the head unit.

Subwoofer is a Focal E-30KX, made with a multi layer Kevlar Cone, and 800w RMS, paired with a Focal FPX-1.1000, providing 1000w RMS x 1 @ 2 ohm.

Yea, looking at lots of options. I want to go lower, but not slammed by any means. I currently have a set of lowering springs I got from a buddy Ill throw on in the spring and see how they ride and how much of a drop they provide. If they aren't what I want, I will either get some WRX suspension, or coilovers (ISC or BC).

I currently have a set of lowering springs I got from a buddy Ill throw on in the spring and see how they ride and how much of a drop they provide. If they aren't what I want, I will either get some WRX suspension, or coilovers (ISC or BC).
If you deside on doing wrx struts, i highly recommend koni inserts! They're awesome for being a standerd struts/spring style

Picked up some pretty silver threaded rods from the 204 markets last week, figured why not and I think they look okay. Might go for a different color but I'll see if they grow on me.

These will be used to hold the sub in the enclosure, but will most likely be covered by a beauty trim anyway..

Got this STI intercooler to go on, but needs some piping modifications first. I think I'm gonna wait till I can tune the car to put this on, so for now it will collect dust in my garage. I also have this catch can I picked up online, gotta find time to install, maybe make it black..
