The purpose of this thread is to raise awareness on traffic laws and penalties, so the readers would think twice before flooring it past the legal limit or before installing something illegal. As members of TTI, we are expected to obey the law to keep our good name going, but then again... **** happens.

To start the thread, please post the following info:

1.Violation:
2.Location:
3.Fine Amount:
4.Was it intentional? If yes, you don't have to explain.
5.Actions taken/ Remarks:

*If speeding, please indicate the actual speed and the speed limit

For now, please post past tickets received just to start the topic... then we will keep the ball rolling by updating it if someone gets slapped with a new ticket for whatever reason.

    Oh boy.

#1: 2012 - Speeding, Bishop and Scurfield (80km/h zone), I cant recall the amount, Wasnt intentional; I thought I was only going 10 over, not 18, was passing a car at the time, Paid the ticket.

#2: 2015 - Going through a Red Light, Mcphillips and Jefferson (camera light intersection), $200 or so, Was winter and very icy, driving at 50km (60km/h zone), light turns, hit breaks, to stop early for oncoming car to safely turn across traffic, I couldnt stop, slid into the intersection at .015 of a second that it turned red. Fought it, had a decent driving record, was going slow, trying to be courteous, and yellow light was shorter than the legal limit. She cut it to half. If I didnt try to be nice, I wouldnt have had a ticket

#3: 2016 - Reckless Driving, Drifitng on Pembina. Icy, snowy, friends birthday and I was the DD and was doing a beer run with the legacy filled with friends. I made a bad decision to pull a little bit of a 50 yard skid through a corner. Cop saw and admired the drift and car. Still wrote me a ticket though. Paid that one for stupidity tax.

Warning #1: 2013 - Reckless Driving, rolled through a stop sign and kicked the back end out.

Warning #2: 2017 - Entered an intersection on a yellow, Entered on a yellow, was in my lane when it turned red. Cop was passing on the shoulder and doing some questionable stuff. I figure he was having a bad morning.

Fun stuff. Was a bit naughty when it came to the Ruckus

      White Protege
2008- Failure To Display Correct Number and Type of Number Plate (front plate on dash, shaved bumper) - $107.50
      Two weeks later...
2008- Failure To Display Correct Number and Type of Number Plate (front plate on dash, shaved bumper) - $107.50

      The Ruckus
2010- Improper Class of License (operating Ruckus without a Class 6) - reprimanded
2012- Failure To Have Proper Equipment (no headlight, indicators, brake light, mirrors, plate light, reflectors, speedometer) - $171.30 & mandatory Light Vehicle Inspection
2012- (2 Fines, One Cop) Failure To Have Proper Equipment (non-DOT taillight with integrated indicators) + Failure To Display Correct Number and Type of Number Plate (side-mounted plate) - amount determined by a justice (I forget what it ended up being. Couple hundred bucks at least.)

I'm just glad (and still bemused) that I never got pulled over with the Miata.

        Geeezzz.

        1) Going through in a right hand only lane.

How the story goes is that i was waiting in traffic on my way home from work, it was crazy hot out. My car had no ac. I was in the center lane and i look to my left and see a bunch of cars cruising by. I knew it was all right hand only lanes on after another but figured if all those people are doing it i might as well join in. Well there was a cop sitting 2 blocks down and got all 5 or 6 cars including me...

        Paid the ticket. Stupid mistake....

        2) Speeding ... 140+ in a 70 but got it dropped to 109 🙌

Went for a cruise with my brother and his friend down to lockport. It was just after 1 am on a friday night. Ripping around, having fun. Then i saw headlights in the distance so i slowed down (because you never know) while passing the car i saw the reflective police sticker. Then you can guess what happened next.

Paid the ticket, 505$ then had to take a defensive driving coarse, 8 hours on a saturday and another 185$...

          #1 - 2015 - Speeding

Was doing 76 in a 60 zone. Totally unintentional, just wasn't paying attention and was following the flow of traffic. My car was tie loudest do I got dinged.

My fault, had no valid reason for spending so I paid the ticket.

That was my first and only so far. Knock on wood.

            Oh wow.

2006? I think: following my brother through a known street racing area, he's in a 3g Camaro, I'm in my 5.0L Mustang, both on D-plates. I foolishly looked at the cop going the other way, he loops around and pulls me over (no reason given). I had a temporary license because my wallet had been stolen a few days prior (pretty sure I filed a police report too), cop gives me a $160 ticket for no license and $160 for no registration, I was in the back of the cop car for a long time. They said if my brother didn't loop back to ID me, they would have towed the car and taken me in to jail. Keep in mind, I had a valid temp license from Motor Vehicles (license dispenser at the time), and they did this anyway. Motor vehicles said I didn't need a photo ID to drive while waiting for the full license to arrive, and that the cop was an idiot. I went down to fight the ticket, actually got angry since these were two bull**** tickets, and threatened further legal action if I had to show up to court to fight the license ticket. The no license ticket was dismissed on the spot, and no registration was stayed.

2nd time - 2009? Caught doing 123 on McPhillips in a 100 zone by the RCMP. I was running late, cop got me on radar, I was dead-to-rights. Cut me a ticket, I was on my way. I had 5 years of flawless driving on record, so I went to the magistrate to be hopefully shown some mercy. I pleaded guilty with explanation, said I was running late, it was stupid, I won't let it happen again. The magistrate chewed me apart. Said I was stupid for doing it, had no excuse for my behavior, and I was lucky I even had a clean driving record. She imposed high court fees because she "never wanted to see me again". Well, that $500 ticket got knocked down to $120 in court fees, I kept my merits. Driving record still flawless. Thank you, mean lady!

Now I live in Ottawa where it's nearly impossible to get a ticket for anything other than causing a car accident. Although I got two ridiculously stupid parking tickets over the past couple weeks...

Kicked it a bit sideways through a yield and general speeding, cop chased me down and handed me a ticket for disobeying a street sign [no demerits in Ontario since it's a bylaw]  = $65  8-)

                  Wow that's pretty sweet.
In Winnipeg you'd probably get a reckless driving charge = 6 demerits lol

When it was raining last week I made a left hand turn and kicked the truck sideways accidentally and a cop was there, I thought he was going to do something for sure but I guess he was distracted and didn't see it.

No front plate. cop told me how to fight it, then asked some questions about the car. Also said I can just keep it off if I want as the ticket isn't very pricey, but that they are generally very picky around McPhillips casino.

To be honest, with the fact that it took them 4 months to ticket me and I passed so many cops. I'd be 100% okay with paying 30$ a month to have no front plate on.

Yeah 4 months is actually pretty fast. Usually it's once a year. Maybe less. Maybe more.

I find this really funny considering the fine for having a "modified/difficult to see" plate is a fine of a little over 200.

1.) Sept 2017 - Parking within 3 meters close to an intersection. $100 reduced to $50 because i paid it off within 2 weeks. Who knew that they don't measure the intersection where my neighbors property starts but where the "curve of the concrete sidewalk because straight" which was like 2 meters after the start of my neighbors lawn

then when i was leaving the parking authority I got pulled over for this:

2.) Sept 12 2017 - Failure to have proper equipment namely muffler. $175 reduced to $25. Mufflers need to be baffled and mine was a glass through. Told the judge I bought the car with the muffler that way and it passed safety and didn't know it illegal but fixed it within 2 weeks and she reduced it to 25 bucks! Asked me what I learned and I said to inspect the car twice lol.

See this is the part that confuses me...

                                    http://web2.gov.mb.ca/laws/statutes/ccsm/h060e.php#45

According to the HTA you just need a working noise muffler. So as long as you have a cat or resonated pipe you should be good?

"no person shall equip a motor vehicle with, or use a motor vehicle equipped with, a muffler cut-out, straight exhaust, gutted muffler, hollywood muffler, by-pass, or any device which has the effect of by-passing or reducing the effectiveness of a noise muffler."

The "hollywood" muffler iirc to them means a straight through muffler. I've never had it happen but have heard stories of the VIU checking mufflers with a broomstick for baffles.

yep. thats where MPI's rules come into effect. When getting safetied, it doesnt matter what kind of muffler, as long as it has one because the safety uses the HTA rules.

But MPI uses their own rules, which are as @Imprzme stated, straight through "hollywood" mufflers. needs baffles for some reason. Even though my car with a baffled legal muffler is far louder than my truck with its "hollywood" style muffler

The  turbo is my muffler in the jetta does that count?  It's quieter then most performance exhausts

Doesn't the Dodge SRT-4 come from the factory with just resonators and no mufflers?

Whatever factory is , thatís what is requires.
The fiat 500 Abarth comes stock straight piped but you canít straight pipe the other models. It came that way from factory therefor itís approved. If your car comes with a muffler youíre required to have a muffler on it. Turbo does not count.

Just because it's sold off a dealership doesn't mean it will pass an inspection. That's a myth that gets people sometimes.

Prime example is trucks and mudflaps. A lot of trucks are sold without mudflaps, but you can get a ticket if you dont have em covering the right % of your tires. even though it came off the showroom floor without.
