Hi all, I'm Matt and I've got a '17 DGM WRX, I've decided to join up on the forums to find some other Subie drivers out there (and I've seen quite a few people with Top Tier decals on their cars around the city).

          So far I've done...

          - Blacked out all the badges
          - RallyArmor mudflaps (black w/ red font)
          - 35% tint all around by Wes @ Executive Tinting
          - Smoked tailights

          I still want to do:

          - Dashcam
          - Red lug nuts
          - New wheels (and winter tires I plan on studding them as well)
          - Exhaust (not sure which yet)
          - JDM armrest (the factory one is useless)
          - Infotainment system (again the factory one is terrible)
          - Trunk swap with an STI

It was $240, I'm sure Mings or some other places might be a bit cheaper but one of my buddies has been going to Wes for a few years and highly recommended him.

Winter Tires: Why studding? I'd rather run a set of great studless that studded. Its quieter, less wear and tear on the road, and over the same performance. Nokian, Bridgestone Blizzaks and Michelin X-Ice's are the ones id Recommend. Studs will only marginally improve on icy conditons, when it comes to dryer/bare pavement the studs will skate like crazy and harm your stopping distance, as well as cornering ability.

Unless you do lots of highway, I will agree with Colby about studded vs studless tires. If most of your driving is in the city, studless will be your best bet.

Also, welcome to the forum, that's a very nice carb you've got yourself.

Red Lugs: Muteki's are cheap, anodizing flakes and chips off if you look at them funny. Project Kics make decent stuff for Red AFAIK.

                                  Welcome

Thanks for all the info! I messaged Colin already about the dash cam / infotainment system already I plan on doing that in the next month or two.

Reason why I wanted to do with studded tires is because I head up north to the cabin about 5 times a winter and the roads out there get pretty rough so it would be nice to have a bit more grip. But I agree I feel like the trade off is during the beginning and ending of winter where there might not be ice on the road so I would need to ride on summers for a bit longer. I've never had studded before, but I'll do some research into seeing if they easy to take on and off, then I could just put on the studless tires at the beginning of the year, put the studs in when the snow and ice comes down afterwards. My dad has a set of Nokians and absolutely loves them on his car, from what I've heard those are the big three to look into.

Definitely! I don't plan on doing the exhaust any time in the near future but when I get around to it I'll definitely shoot you a PM. I want to get a nice rumble going but nothing too too obnoxious.

If you do highway studded are well worth it. I run studded every winter, because I do a lot of highway. And on icy highways studs are a damn miracle. I'll never run without them again unless I'm not driving the vehicle on highways.
Both have their uses, which you choose depends on conditions you'll be using your vehicle in.

Had studless on my car last winter, hated it compared to studded and ended up driving the truck more often because it had studded lol. City = studless. Highway = studded. My $0.02.

Yeah I usually don't do too much highway driving, so I'll have to weigh it out when it comes to getting another set of wheels. I assume that you can find the best deals on winter tires / wheels during the summer time?
