Lately my car has been on and off with allowing Second gear to engage! Second gear has been engaging for about a month now and just today it stops again, only difference I've noticed is now if I try to engage the gear and the car is moving, the gear will grind. If anyone has any idea of what could possibly be going wrong, please let me know, a few mechanic shops I've gone to in the past has said it is probably my synchro.

      No I can't shift into second gear no matter what, it's not a grinding really I think vibrating is a better description.

        Its most likely a synchro, you could take it apart and check it out, transmissions are complicated but doable if you take your time.

          Update;

          Second gear is working perfectly again, still think it's a synchro? Could it need an adjustment?

            Have you tried changing transmission fluid?

            My guess is there was a small fragment stuck in your syncro that has magically popped out. Strain your old transmission fluid and see what golden nuggets you find.

              I changed my gear oil 2 months ago, should I take the transmission apart to go further in depth?

                a lot of people recommending NOT changing gear oil in older/unknown history tx's, because it can dislodge bits and pieces that then go and jam things up
