As of right now it appears my car is being targeted for theft. Ill give you guys the full story and let me know what you think.

This has been reported as suspicious activity to police.
Here is a list in order of recent activitys.

1) Dec 26 - An SUV is parked outside of my house, as my gf and friend start to pull into my driveway SUV driver peels out hard.

2) Dec 29 - Neighbour sees a dark car parked in the same spot, as he approaches the car driver ducks down and takes off.

3) Jan 5 - I notice somone has opened my garbage storages which are behind my car. As i walk back there to close them i notice footprints going up my driveway all around my car, and right behind my car is a double bagged garbage bag that somebody dropped there which wasnt my neighbours or my tenant. Ill add my garbage can and recycling is in front of my car which makes even less sense why someone would walk past them and drop a garbage back at the very back.

4) today as i am playing video games i see a black cobalt ss parked in that same spot im watching the driver and he is consistently looking up at my car and down at his phone, also the car is full of guys wearing baseball hats. Now when i take a picture you can see his face he has covered it as he sees me take a picture they then take off.

Attached is a picture

first thing i'd do now is get some kind of GPS tracker hidden in the car somewhere. Just in case. Maybe find someone who has a place you can park it for a while?

definitely sounds like suspicious activity. When my sled was stolen I had a neighbor tell me they saw an unfamiliar truck driving up and down our back lane a few times a day/night about a week prior. Not uncommon for them to scout things out.

Good idea, i meant to buy one when my car first arrived, ill head down to VISIONS see what they have. This is also a reason im a bit sketched out about posting Journals on this site as its a great place for thieves to see whats in people cars and get information. The battery is out and also i have a steering wheel bar on it. I feel like what they would do is they would TOW it, i dont have many options for moving it anywhere else right now. Ill have to get a GPS device Maybe some chains, and ill seriously consider building a garage this summer. i have a security light but no camera which could also be a good investment.

move it if you can, pull the battery if you can't. Don't make their lives easy. Get some cameras/security lights too. Better safe than sorry
It will never have enough power until I can spin all four wheels at the end of the straightaway in high gear.

I had something similar happen at my parents place. They seemed to be scouting my dads car.  Suspicious looking fellas in a car, staring out at the driveway, sitting really low trying to use the b pillars to stay "hidden".  The driver kept looking at his phone, then looking at the car, then looks around.  I was watching from inside the house.  This went on for 15 mins or so, and I eventually went out the back door,  grabbed a sledgehammer from the back yard, and went out the front gate.  The moment I came around the corner, the car took off hard.  As far as I know, my parents didn't see anything suspicious after that.

Build a small fence around the car and hook a couple car batteries up to it.

Also, this. Any way you could park a car on the street with a GoPro or something running in a way where you'd be able to grab their plate?

take off the lug bolts / nuts too. Even just on one wheel. put it up on a jack stand on the control arm or something.

assuming this is a car that is somewhat stored?

Car is stored beside my house. If I see them again I will grab a plate. I have a trimax on the way so that's another obstacle for them. Seems like its being scouted and there looking for times when my driveways clear of cars.

I have a go pro but they only last for a few hours.

I don’t know if this is the best idea , probably not.. but why not just buy a POS vehicle off kijiji for a couple hundred bucks and park it in front of it? Then they have to move that car to get it out of the way. If you want even harder jack the beater up, take the tires off and put it on the ground. Now watch them try and drag that thing out. They would have to REALLY want your car. Then come summer take it to bucks they usually give couple hundred for whole cars anyways.

If it's "stored" for winter, put it on jackstands and take the wheels off.  And sprinkle your property with "smile, you're on camera" signs.  Sucks when you can't feel safe on your own property.

They may not try to steal the vehicle itself, but they may try to steal parts off the car.

                                      Take that into consideration

Small towns still get hit lol. I live in a town of 100. Had my $15,000 snowmobile, and brother in law's $14,000 snowmobile stolen from inside a locked shed,  behind an 8' tall fence with double locked gate. Small towns ain't immune from thefts lol.

Very true and when I had my crossfire I made sure it was hard to steal (kept it on the back of my truck backed up to a wall). Sleds always seem like a hot ticket item for thieves.
