I had 4 points taken off for my ticket. (DOT lighting, CMVSS belts, fog lights not covered -they were off but not covered) and had my registration pulled.

VIU checked the front end and missed the 2 loose ball joints, loose rear stabilizer links, and front wheel bearings had play. all of which I knew had to be adressed, but yeah, they missed any real potential safety issue.

I guess this thread is a little old, but I'm gonna post in here anyway.
I want to get my jdm fozzy safetied before spring awakening but I'm having trouble finding a shop to do it.
Does anyone know of a shop that won't shy away? I've heard it's getting harder to find.

I'm not looking for a bs safety.

I know I need to put in new headlights and I'm not sure on the exhaust, everything else should be fine according to mpi's revised handbook.

Interested as well.  Duals was willing to go for it (and I'd highly recommend them too) but they are backed up til end of next week.

Will check out some of the suggestions in this thread!

Having new shops to check out on this thread would be nice. Unless it's some secret fake safety shop.

No secret lol. I recommend you ask Dan at Peg City Auto about a safety if your interested. I have had him perform safety inspections on two of my vehicles and while neither was a JDM I know he works on them so he may be willing to perform a safety on one. I'll PM you his phone number.

              Edit: Found the website

Lol. There's a guy in the north end. Not sure if he's still around though. Can't remember the name of the shop.
I wouldn't recommend going to him anyway.

Basically the title. I've decided it might be nice for my car's next owner to buy the car already safetied so I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any JDM friendly shop that might safety my car without pulling any wiseguys on me. Thanks.

I just used St-B collision to Safety my Hilux Surf. They had no problem doing it, but were very by the book and called MPI to confirm what was required.

I needed to change my JIS seatbelts to F/C MVSS one's and change the headlights and parking lights that were not DOT. everything else was DOT already. And DRL of course.

Sorry for the wait!. I went to Midas on St Mary's and it passed with no problems.

You shouldn't need a "fake safety" just because its a JDM car. The previous owner had it safetied at one point, you should have no issue having it safetied. What exactly is making you think you need a fake safety to insure your car?

I just am having trouble raising my car because the coils are frozen. I just called simcoe auto and he said that he might be able to do it still but they're going to have to measure it. Idk if that's a yes or not
