Hey guys
Im thinking about investing in some good knee sleeves..after research it seems it comes down to SBD or Rehband
Anybody here had the chance to try both and tell which one was better?
Thx

My advice , just go online and google 7mm neoprene sleeves and buy some for $40-$50 rather than the SBD ones for $130. That's what makes the SBD ones so popular is the neoprene helps and springs you back up, but half of that is the name. 7mm is the max for a competition.
Hell if you wanted to just really protect your knees and you don't care about competition you can get 12mm ones too. They're not comp legal though because they help so much, or just buy wraps for like $30. They help a ton as well but they also help in support.

I've got SBDs. I've had them a couple years and they're holding up fantastically.

Wraps and sleeves are meant for different things. Wraps allow you to squat more weight (provided your hip/back strength is there). Sleeves keep your knees warm and that is their main function. You can purposely buy them extra tight (I do it for competition) to offer a tiny bit of support. I have SBD and they are definitely better than my old rehbands, mark bell's Strong sleeves are very similar (7mm) but they aren't legal for competition in Canada (CPU at least). The slingshot sleeves are legal but they are only 5mm I believe, my wife has these and they are better than the rehbands, but not quite as good as the sbd's. Wraps are a pain because you have to take them on and off for every set. I don't know why any "normal" gym goer would ever train in them. I have a pair and they are kind of fun to use, but they aren't something you wear every squat session for every set.

I'll use wraps if I want bruised legs.

So On monday when I was training back I went to do some Shrugs and I felt a tearing pain in my traps. 2nd set felt the same so I stopped. Next day my whole right shoulder was in pain. Took 3 days off training and did some legs Friday, Chest yesterday and shoulder still killed. Today Its bruised. I have a feeling I tore something in there or atleast damaged it. I've got an appointment Friday with my Massage therapist and hopefully she can figure out whats wrong and fix it. Taking it light and easy on it.

Do any of you guys/have any of you guys ever had a membership at the YMCA/YWCA? I currently go to a Motion Fitness in Saskatoon(similar to Good Life) but am moving to Winnipeg next month. The closest gym is the YMCA, about a 2 minute walk, but I'm wondering if any of you have an opinion on it? I'd rather not drive 15 minutes to get to a Good Life or something else but will if the quality of gym is going to be significantly higher. At that point I might as well just bus to the U of M and use the gym I have to pay for regardless though I think.

Most of what I do right now is cardio oriented with some weight training but in the coming months that will likely be flipped to being mostly weight training with some cardio.

ive only been to 2 Y's... downtown, and the st james one.

both get busy, as does every other gym in the 4:30-7pm ranges

depending where you live, you might be able to get a city of wpg facility pass as well

Where are you living? Goodlife has got locations pretty much all over the city. There is a new one opening up on grant (I think its grant) this summer too.

I'll be living in Elm Park, so that one on Grant would likely be the closest to me! I can't imagine how busy that gym is going to be for awhile though haha.

Funny story, Went to my massage therapist. It was a Combo of tight traps since it ties right into the top of the medial delt where It was hurting. They fixed it for the most part but then Yesterday I went and did the same Lift( dual cable shrugs) that screwed it up and I felt the same pop/sting as the last time. Now its tender again today. So Now I know forsure to stick with my BB shrugs and make sure I roll out my traps  with a lacross ball

Goodlife has one of these. I use to do shrugs on them but I believe it was jsut bad angles both times so back to BB shrugs for me. I use this machine for alot of things not just legs.
