Only thing I hate about goodlife is that Patch (CEO of goodlife) doesnt think they should have Dumbbells above 100lbs to avoid people on gear. I'd love to have some that go up to 150

That's pretty dumb. Using 100+ pound dumbbells is not in any way an indication of gear usage.

You'll rarely see a guy on gear use over 100s. You'll see them use 30s for 200 reps

as someone who has experimented over the course of 15 yrs and is an on again/off again "natty", i can agree.

its when you go from pushing 100lb dumbells for 5 or 6, then 5 weeks later its just part of the pyramid and you're doing 12+

if that stuff makes the gym 'fun again', why not?   i rarely take anything off the rack over 120, its like that point, **** gets heavy

I did 125s once. It wasn't really heavy more so scary/nerve wracking to get into position. Maybe cause the 125s were metal. The rubber 120s don't scare me at all and I'll set up more with ease.

Have you weighed them? I think the rubber weights are more accurate than the medal . Obviously the metal feel heavier but i think it's more "close" to the number. Whereas the rubber is machined

Rubber weights are just metal ones Coated for the most part Reason why alot of the heavier rubber ones break apart. Atleast at goodlife. I havent weighed them back to back but I've used Metal ones and rubber and the metal always seem heavier being the "same"weight

Yeah. I bought a month yesterday. Great facility, but I can see myself getting sick of the extra driving.

What extra driving? Lol . The 5 minute drive from town to the gym? I used to drive 20 minutes in the city to get to my old gym.

Started going to physio for my rib. PT thinks the pain i'm experiencing is from lack of stability in my core and wants me to work on it. Told me to go back to the gym and start light. Time to not be fat again.

Extra 20 kilometers everytime I go to the gym, 6 days a week. Fuel costs me about $0.08/km, 6240 extra kilometers in a year, $499.20 is what it adds up to not to mention extra wear and tear on my vehicle and about 60 hours of driving over the year. If I was a single guy I'd probably be ok with it, but with a wife and kids I can use that $500 in a better way and spend a little more time at home.

The problem with the typical metal plate dumbells is that for some reason the handle is never accounted for. Ive seen lots of gyms around the city label them all 5 lbs light. A dumbbell with 2 10's on either side is always labeled as 40lbs, but with the handle/nuts (whatever holds them together) its actually 45lbs.

If I was a single guy I'd probably be ok with it, but with a wife and kids I can use that $500 in a better way and spend a little more time at home.

I guess because like you said if you were single guy and which I am, I find that to be a bit silly.
I did switch to my current gym because of the time convenience along side it being a better facility. But I never complained about the distance and gas of my old gym.
I see your point though. It's what I thought of too switching to a closer gym

That's a reason I switched gyms. All the strong people more or less left my gym and I was the strongest , and it wasn't motivating. I wanted to be around strong people . Not more or less recreational lifters
