Stoked for this season. I am currently looking to change my lens on my Asian-Fitted Oakley A Frames and get another pair of googles.

Want something like

but on this frame

Here is last years mountian trip video,

It was my first time using my GoPro (Christmas gift) and editing. I have grown a lot and excited to really experiment this year.

I'll be lucky if I get out once this year.  I've only gone twice in the last three years, for shame.

I've got some bindings and boots for sale..and a free helmet.

I need/want some new Dakine mitts for this year, don't get me wrong, I love my ghetto beige leather mitts w/ the reflective stripe and hand knitted liners, but they're not long enough Dx

What size of boots? Probably going to buy new ones, but doesn't hurt to check...

I'm pumped to ride soon!  I ride at Holiday Mtn and Asessippi.  Alpine snowboarding is very small compared to the corporate-driven freestyle stuff.  I think I'm the only one in Manitoba doing this style of riding, so if you see someone turning like crazy it's likely me.  Come say hi!  I don't jump much now, and stopped doing rails 20-ish years ago.  LOL!

I bought a new board after the end of last season - 180cm Donek Proteus.  I rode a test model in Colorado last year and fell in love.  It's really turny for a 180, and tends to toss you in the air between turns if you're not mindful of your edge pressure.  It's about 1/2-way between the 167 slalom board and the 182 GS board I regularly ride.  I'm eager to make some turns on any/all of them!

I've got trips to Alberta (Nakiska) and Colorado (Aspen) planned for Alpine meets in 2013.  AB will have 40 or so participants, CO gets 150-ish.  What a blast to ride with and learn from the pros!

Haha, a lot of the alpine guys ride 170-200 boards.  It can be a macho thing, 'mine's bigger than yours'.  180-185 is about the sweet spot for my style of riding, you can still reasonably do jump turns on steep stuff when you get in over your head.  Anything made in the last 5 years has rockered tips and tails though, so for basic skidding stuff you're riding on a board that's a good 40-50cm shorter as the ends aren't even on the snow.  It's only once you tip it up high on edge that the whole edge engages.  Plus I'm 210 lbs.  ;)

                        Alpine is different...

haha yea i understand how you need a longer board for that kind of stuff.
Have they brought over the reverse camber/zero camber/ camber and reverse combo, technology to the apline boards as well?
In majority of the twin boards its all reverse, zero, or some sort of hybrid cambered boards now.

I was a traditional camber kind of guy, untill I realized that no one is really making them this year any more.
Got hooked up by endeavor snowbaords, so I'm trying out a zero camber board this year to see how I like it.

Would say we almost need a TTI ski/snowboard event once or couple times this winter and not springhill

Yep, traditional camber for most of the board and reverse camber on the tip and tail.  They've been doing that for about 5 years now in alpine.

That actually looks really fun. I like trying to go low like that on my carves sometimes but it's not easy for me lol. I probably don't have the right board/setup for it anyway.

Fixed that for you.  I'm wearing out that red jacket around my left hip.  The right knee and elbow are wearing out from the toeside turns.  Mitts wear out quick too.  ;)

Sorry guys, I don't mean to highjack this thread with Alpine weirdness.  I have mucho respect for freestyle riding.  I got bored with it after many years and switched over to Alpine to refresh my love of snowboarding.

                                          Nothing campares to it.

Only reason I ride park is cause really, thats all there is in Manitoba.
All the larger "hills" that have lifts and such, are still nothing compared to the mountains.

Asessippi has some decent steep pitches.  The run under the Porcupine triple-chair is as steep for the first third as a black diamond run in the mountains.  I can ride that run for hours trying to do stuff like the above pictures.  However it gets buffed to ice pretty quick by the people side-slipping down the center.  It's not as stressful as in the mountains though because you only slide 200' if you fall.  But it's narrower which really messes with your head.

I still recall the first time I cockily dropped into a huge superpipe at Whistler in 2000 - I quickly realized I was a dumb prairie boy in way over his head.  I survived one wall (maybe 1' above the deck), chickened out for the 2nd, and side-slipped down the middle the rest of the way.  It was the best spot to be though; the guy ahead of me was doing McTwists and similar a solid 10' above the deck.  No video can convey the epicness of seeing that right in front of you!

Jeez, I'm pumped to get out on the snow!  Time to do more squats...

Where does everyone take their boards for service? I've always went to Kenaston Gords, but now that it's closed I have to call and find out if their awesome edgeing (sp?) machine is at their only location now.

I ride a 5150 shifter 160 with Technine baller pro bindings, have a few jacket setups as well. For sure down to do a TTI sesh, however you guys all look 50x better than I am haha.

I use a file followed by a diamond stone to take the sharpness off the edges of my board. Sharp edges are your worst nightmare if you ride rails. Don't usually wax my board either haha, usually end up breaking them before they are terribly slow.
