If you are going to do a border run, and could pick something up for someone or could split the cost of going there and back, let us know by replying to the thread!

I will be taking the R32 for a quick jaunt to Menkes in about 2 weeks (perhaps Saturday Feb 2 and being there for about 10am, if my parcels are there).

Some useful information:

Nope, you can still only bring back 1.14L of liquor or 24 beer or 1.5L of wine per person over the age of majority, over that and you've gotta pay tax/duty/provincial mark ups on it.

Yes, if you're gone more than 48 hours, you can bring pack your parcels and include them in your exemption. Just make sure to declare errrrrything.

I dont think there was ever a $5000 limit. That would be insane. They upped it from $400 to $800 after 48 hours.

Insertnamehere - How does the liqour allowance work? I understand you can only bring back 1 - 40L or a 24 of beer, etc. But If I'm gone for 48+ hrs can I bring back $800 worth of liqour since i'm under the spending limit?

I don't think mine will be ready by then.  I am getting some cab mounts, bed mounts, and running board mounts made for my truck.

Those mounts look pretty big, would they fit in the back seat of a civic? When do you think they'll be ready?

How does this work to bring parcels back for someone else?  Do you simply need a receipt of their item to pay duty or is there more to it?

                                    1. Have the owner email you the reciept so you can print it out and have a physical copy of item(s) in question you are picking up.

                                    2. Pick them up and pay parcel service their holding fees. The tracking number will help you pick up the correct package.

                                    3. Tell the border that you did pick up parcels for someone else and you plan on paying duty and taxes.

                                    4. Go inside the building with the reciepts state that you did pick up items for other people. They can split the bill into sections so you know how much money to collect from everyone to pay you back.

                                    *Important information*
Know what you are picking up before hand. Obviously you don't want to be caught with something that is illegal and don't want to make yourself look like a drug mule.

Don't lie to the border officer. You will get caught and fined/jail.

Bring cash too as not every parcel place accepts credit cards.

There is no such thing as "DEBIT" in USA so that will not work period.

I did all of the above before seeing this and everything went smoothly.  I wasn't sure if I needed anything in writing to bring other parcels across the border but it doesn't appear so.

I might be Dave. Awaiting a shipment of bumper plates, so depending on when they get there. I'll let you know.

there IS such thing as debit in the states - its just not as widely used/commonly used - but its at almost every gas station - and large supermarket/retail store.

                                              otherwise very good points Mikewoo.

I'll have a sack of prothene bushings myself.  I'm going to be ordering my adapter kit for my s10 -> 52 tonight, so it might be a week or two until it gets there.  Then I will need to get my stuff too.
