Ordered up a couple of more "necessities"

A defroster vent gauge mount and an Innovate Oil Temp + Pressure integrated gauge (The pic of the mount isn't mine)

Both gauge mounts should give a nice understated look. I wanted to avoid A-Pillar mounts and Steering column mounts

What are you going to do for a boost gauge when your turbo kit shows up?

Got a chance to take care of some small but tedious stuff today. Installed the stoptech stainless lines, stoptech pads, whiteline camber kit, and flushed/bled the brake system with Motul 600.

I can't imagine how fun it is working on a brand new car.

I can't imagine having  heated insulated garage.

Hopefully I can insulate mine this summer.

It's pretty good. I haven't had any rust flakes fall into my eyes yet which is a nice change.

MikeWoo: I just did mine in October. With a couple of people, you could easily get it done in a weekend.

Just ordered a couple of these warlocks for proper oil temp/pressure gauge installation. They're a part from an STI but will be a direct bolt in to the factory oil galley plugs. 1/8PT thread

I removed the front bumper cover today in preparation of everything arriving in the next week or two. Literally the only part left from my first stockpile is the hella horns, so I figured might as well install them

The oil cooler will mount low and between them in the center, and the intercooler in behind them. I don't think there will be any clearance issues

I also got my new ecutek ECU maps from AVO today.

I had some time last night to start wiring in my gauges. I ended up making a wiring harness that will supply ignition 12v, illumination, and ground to the area where im mounting gauges. It was fairly simple but it makes things easier down the road for tapping into wires, as opposed to fishing through the fuse panel with a tiny soldering iron. One gauge will mount into the vent so I drilled through the piping and used a grommet + silicone to ensure no air leaks. The other will mount just above on top of the defrost vent.

I'll be using the stock airbox with a drop in filter for the turbo setup, so I blocked off the factory airbox resonator

Running the gauge wiring into the cabin was a piece of cake. 86s have a nipple from the factory on the main grommet to make wire pass through easier

And then after all that, I realized that my plan of mounting my wideband into the downpipe won't work. I dont want to drill into a ceramic coated over pipe either, so I was forced into getting a new frontpipe. At least it's being done properly and that now puts me into Stage 2 boost land with the AVO setup

                        Add to the list
                        AVO ceramic coated overpipe
                        Invidia resonated front pipe
                        GReddy oil filter sandwich plate

According to speedfactor, most of the other stuff should be here Wednesday

Wow, this is so nice! What are your power goals? Are you afraid the power will wreck the initial handling the frs/brz is famous for?

I'm not really sure. I think I would be happy with 240ish. I have the Stage 1 ECU tune which should net that amount, but if I get bored with it I have all the supporting mods to run the Stage 2 setup which is good for 280ish whp. We'll see in a couple of months I guess

Honestly, the initial "kick the back end out whenever you want" handling went away when I put 9" wide summer tires on. I'm not too worried about it anymore :)

Sounds sweet! Can't wait to see this! I might have missed it, but did you upgrade the axles? I've read they break really easy.

Nah, going to keep stock axles. I think the clutch will go before the axles, but I'll worry about it when it comes up

A couple of small bits arrived so I just put them in

Cusco air/oil separator...really nice high quality piece. This isn't the cheapy version, it actually has a filtration system.

And one of my gauge pods arrived so I installed the oil pres/temp. The USB cable to program it is run behind the dash and wire holes thru the duct work are done with a grommet and silicone. The vent is still functional

Stopped by Speed factor today and they gave me a better option than the invidia front pipe. Picked up this one from T1R. Im taking it to Jackson tomorrow to get the o2 bung welded on

When things don't happen right away, remember it takes 13 hours to build a Toyota, and 6 months to build a Rolls Royce.

So 99% of my shipment arrived today. I put in 3 or 4 hours and got about 60% of the install done. I'll have most of the hardware installed by tomorrow night, but I won't be able to fire it up until the overpipe comes in

This is the actual turbo kit, the blowoff valve, drop in filter, grimmspeed gaskets, and grimmspeed hood struts ... which are an absolute gem. I should of got them first. I also have some OEM Subaru front pipe and overpipe gaskets to replace those as they go in also.

On my way to Speedfactor to pick up the goods, I stopped by Jackson and had them weld on an o2 bung onto the T1R front pipe I picked up yesterday

For anyone that's curious, this is what's in the box. All of the small hardware is individually packaged in separate bags to make the install a little easier. The instructions however, may as well be in chinese because they are crap.

Intercooler mounted. Nice and stealthy! Unfortunately, my oil cooler is going to sit in front of it, but I may try and relocate it if I can get some ventilation elsewhere for it.

The most interesting part of this turbo setup is the oil scavenging pump and reservoir setup. This bolts up to the back of one of the cam plates and is mechanically driven so there is always sufficient oil moving to the turbo, even at idle.

Here it is ready to go in. The o2 sensors are on, the main charge pipe, one of the oil lines, etc

That's pretty much where I stopped. I gashed my thumb open pretty badly on the useless **** of a gasket that came on the downpipe. My old rugby first aid training started to wear off (polysporin+gauze+hockey tape), so I decided to call it a night.

I still have a **** load of stuff to do :(
