Hey guys, so I just passed the easy knowledge test and will be looking at doing the 21 hour course sometime soon. But before that I will need some gear. Which local stores do you guys prefer for motorcycle gear with a wide selection and helpful reps for new guys like me?

I would check out wildwood motorsports on pembina but ordering off the internet will save you quite a bit.

I haven't been to many stores in the city only because I find that you have a wider selection online if you don't mind waiting for shipping. As for places in the city I've been too,
      - Dugald Road you can find a Winnipeg sport and leisure shop which has gloves, shoes, pants, jackets and helmets.
      - Pembina you can find Wildwood which from what I've seen have gloves, shoes, pants, jackets and helmets.
      - On Portage Ave you can find Headlingly Sportshop it's just outside the city and they carry gloves, shoes, pants, jackets and helmets.

bobs cycle is a solid online store, or if you're in minneapolis you could stop there.
I got a Ton of Dirtbike gear for cheap there, and they carry street bike stuff as well.

Capitol is on St Annes, I used to go there all the time when I rode dirtbikes. Decent amount of riding gear. Prices are competitive as well.

Maybe the way to go is go to a store, try stuff on and see how it fits, then shop online? That's basically what I did. Tried friends Helmets, Jackets, Gloves etc to get my sizing. Then ordered from Canadas Motorcycle when they had sales.

Yup that's what I did as well.

I'm all for supporting local stores but there's a significant difference in price online and I don't mind waiting for shipping

Depends what it is.  My JR jacket and pants and A* shoes were the same from Main as from Canada's Motorcycle. Oil is practically no different, actually should be cheaper too now from Main than from Canada's Motorcycle. If you build a rapport with a shop they might give you 10-15% here and there.

No one carries Arai in Manitoba or RS Taichi so that is a different story.
