I've been reading some reviews on this unit and it looks like crap. Now I'm not sure if the negative reviews installed it correctly.

Any rhd owners, specifically imprezas, use this for the DRL to pass safety?

I've installed a few in US cars and had no issues. They don't last a long time, nor does the coil trigger always work.

I bought a Hamsar one for my imported GF8 and it installed easily and works fine. I can't attest to durability as I've only had it a couple of weeks.

A friend recently had his DRL's done by a professional car electrician though, and he somehow wired it up so that you didn't even need a module. Anyone know how he may have done this?

I'm pretty sure that I bought the unit last week. I pick up my rhd forester on monday and won't be installing it until the 28th so I can't give a good or bad review until then. Sorry

The way my DRLs were done on my US Legacy was just wired so that ignition power turns the lights on. so not matter what when my car is on, my lights are on. Works great cause i never have to worry about leaving them on or turning them on.

Piston Ring sells a super good DRL kit. We been using it in our shop for almost 10years and I believe we have had only one ever have bad parts.
Its nice cause it has a external fuse you can wire up, I had one put in our families MDX when we imported it from the states back in 2008 and still have not had a single issue with it.

I can get the product number if you guys are curious tomorrow from my back parts guy

FYI, I've got a couple DRL kits from Daniel Stern Lighting I didn't end up using that I could sell if anyone was in a pinch.
