It's based on approximate power/speed of a car. There are 3 run groups that go out in 10 minute intervals.

Group A runs, B is staged, C is just chillin in the pits with your squad
10 minutes
Group B Runs, C is Staged, A is chillin in the pits with your squad
10 Minutes
Group C runs... etc etc etc

They are grouped off to minimize the need for passing. Putting a bone stock econobox in the same group as a 911 Turbo would be bad news,

Group A will be the higher power and performance specific models (STI/Evo)

Group B will be your average "sports car" type of vehicle (avg weight/avg power)

Group C is econobox/light weight vehicles

Last year, Group A consisted of a Corvette ZR1, the lowly BRZ, M3, 911, Camaro SS, 370Z, Evo, STI, etc etc

I e-mailed the organizer. If there are still spots left, I'll take the black Soarer out for Group B runs :)

Lol it's not formal race classification because there is no racing going on :)

it's just where everyone is placed. They'll be shuffled if need be I'm sure

It confused me lol ya your right, it doesn't have to be a race classification since there won't be any racing. I'll see y'all tonight

Correct! If they can get over 15 people interested they will hold another hpde in june.

Honestly, that was probably the most fun I've had in my car. Pushing the car to the limit with others on the track is such a rush! Everything was well controlled though. A couple people went off the track and learned from their mistake. I would recommend it to anyone!

A few tips for those interested:

Get proper summer tires! They don't need to be track specific but a summer tire will hold up a lot better than an all season tire. A number of people ended up destroying their all seasons due to driving beyond the limits of the tire. I had a set of rivals on my car and was able to push pretty hard without losing grip and had minimal wear.

Check your fluids before you come to the track! If your car is 10+ years old and the fluids haven't been replaced consider putting fresh fluid in.

Make sure your brakes have more than 50% life on them! Pads/rotors will wear out while you are hard braking so make sure you have enough material to last you the two days.

                                I'll upload some videos soon.

It was cool putting a face to Alexatwork :P Thank Alex! For letting everyone at TTI know about such an event. I had a BLAST!!! I will 100% definitely come back again.
I learned so much and realized I have a LOT of improvements to make.

The adrenaline rush was crazy! Thinking the car would slide off the track and the instructors saying "Crank the wheel MORE!!! Get closer to that Apex Pylon! Go go go!!!" haha what a rush! I definitely did not know my car could do what it did pretty much bone stock and sh*tty tires. (All season in the front and winters in the back lol)

I highly recommend this event for ANYONE. You don't need a race car or anything super quick. The instructors are great and help you reach your car's potential regardless of model and make.

Next event I'll bring another person, maybe 2. I think we can get over 15 registrants easily! :)

Probably a combination of too much pressure, too much steering input, and too much throttle. Seems like the general consensus is that tires start to shred like that when there is too much lateral movement of the car in a turn. If you are over driving your tires they will shred. Rivals were still Gucci after two days of racing
